Case Filed Against K-Electric for Deaths Due to Electrocution in Rain

KARACHI: A case of causing deaths due to negligence was registered against K-electric in connection with the death of three friends who died of electrocution in Karachi’s DHA.

The heirs of the deceased teenagers along with Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar have lodged an FIR against K-Electric owner Arif Naqvi, Chairperson Ikram Sehgal and CEO Moonis Alvi at the Darakhshan police station.

“People are dying due to the criminal negligence of K-electric and they are accountable to no one,” Mayor Karachi said, “FIR of other victims died of electrocution will also be registered.”

Police registered a case in the presence of one the deceased teenager Hamza’s family against the K-electric owners under section 322, 268 and 34.

Talking to media outside the police station, Waseem said: “At least 30 people lost their lives due to electrocution in rain and I appeal to the Supreme Court to take notice of the KE’s negligence.”

“It took six hours to lodged an FIR but I thank Darakshan Police to file a case,” he said.
